Find and be your Authentic Self....I heard this in a movie and of course I can't think of what movie but I know that the line was delivered in a comedic tone, but I really liked it. Find and be your Authentic Self....I mean I guess it just sounds like something that we should all be doing. It may sound easy, but I don't really think it is. There is a lot going on in our lives and in this world that stop you from expressing yourself truly and honestly, but I think it is important to find a way to really be yourself. OK, so I don't want to get preachy and weird, I just want to share with you what I will be trying to implement in my everyday life. I mean I guess it is just something that has kind of sunk in and I felt like I should share it with all of you :-) I even like how it sounds, Authentic Self, it just sounds like something you want to be.
Another fun little line that I heard this weekend while cleaning my room, I like to have background noise while I clean and that is truly what this movie was; Step Up 2 Take it to the Streets! Ha, so anyway the lead girl says to the lead boy that of course she is falling for; "My mom used to tell me to always be myself and I couldn't go wrong, And I used to think well duh, who else could I be?" OK so the line itself is quite simple and silly, but it is true and sweet and always good to keep in the back of your mind. OK enough of the silly inspirational talk I just wanted to let you all know what I have been thinking about the last couple days :-)
Alright, moving on I want to talk about something else I can't get out of my head and it is a song, well an entire album now! There is this new band that I have discovered that has really just knocked my socks off and after hearing their song on the radio I went out the next day and bought their album and found that all of their songs are pretty fantastic. They are Mumford and Sons and they are a British Band and their album was under Alternative at Best Buy, though I have to say I don't know if I would categorize them as Alternative, I think they are more folksy/indy/alternative, anyway I really like them a lot! Here is the video to their song that is on the radio right now and that I can't stop listening to! The music is amazing and the singers voice is so different and GREAT! Well I hope you enjoy

Movie TIme !
Finally!!!! I had some issues that I had to figure out myself which I think some of you know I am not the most computer savvy person on this earth ( Vlady you usually did everything for me! I miss that A LOT! ) So anyway in my last post I said I was gonna go see Day and Knight ( It is actually Knight and Day haha ) and The Kids are All Right. I have since seen both and was extremely happy with them. Day and Knight was everything I wanted it to be; Funny, exciting, entertaining, silly, and just simply entertaining. It was the kind of movie that you would want to see in the Summer to just entertain you and keep you interested from beginning to end. I even liked Cameron Diaz in this movie, her acting usually upsets me because she comes across as some pretty chick just delivering lines, she never gets into her character to become that person. I think that this was her next best film after The Mask. Yes that's right, The Mask was her last good film. Now of course when she plays Fiona I love her, but that is just her fun voice. OK I think I'm done ripping on Cameron ;-)
So now I would like to talk about The Kids are All Right, this movie was absolutely perfect. It is usually not that easy for me to throw around the word perfect, but it truly was. The acting was flawless from every actor starting with my favorite Jules ( Julianne Moore ) she was so totally committed to her character and she delivered her performance so well that there was no part of me that thought oh she is just acting. The same goes for Nic ( Annette Bening ) as a friend of mine has said in his blog already; I don't see how she has not been in more commanding roles as this. They both became these characters so well that I honestly felt that I was watching their true family's issues unfold in front of me. The story was so simple and sweet but the Direction by Lisa Cholodenko was so precise and perfect that her actors fell into their characters so beautifully and ( seemingly ) effortlessly that there was no way not to fall in love withe them and want to see what will unfold in this movie for them. I was totally connected to the film from the opening skateboarding scene til the very last credit rolled off the screen. I have to say that I haven't been this enthralled and in love with a film since Mystic River. I won't be comparing the two because they are so opposite, but I loved Mystic River so much that it still plays out for me like I'm watching it for the firs time, and I think that The Kids are All Right will do the same for me.
So all of this being said, I also mentioned in before that I will be blogging about some possible film ideas of my own. Here is one that I have had rolling around in my head for a while now. The story is a Girl who is caught between real life and fantasy, the film will play out in a way that the audience may not really know which is the real life and which is the fantasy life. I want it to be a Dramedy, so this is going to be interesting for me to write some dramatic scenes, but I am excited and really looking forward to it. So this is definitely not enough info yet, but I just wanted to get a little bit out there to stir the pot a little ;-) There will be much more to come so don't worry!
So there we have it folks two great movies that are definitely a must see and one movie in the works that will one day also be a must see ;-)

And so it Begins...
Hello there, so I know that technically I was supposed to write a new blog last night but I was just too exhausted! Booo, I know bad excuse, terrible excuse, but it is the truth :-( I think I will start with last Friday July 9th, it was my one year anniversary of living out here and I decided to celebrate with some of my new friends and some of my old friends. We all went to a 24 hour diner in Hollywood called K24 I love the place, the food is great, they serve liquor and their milkshakes are ridiculous. The one bad thing is that the parking around there is almost non-existent! Some of the people that I invited circled the blocks for a while and never made it in which I felt terrible about :-( But a great group did make it and we had a blast! I honestly can't believe that I have officially been out here for a whole year, time flies by the older you get, I used to hear that all the time and thought noway, it won't FLY by, but yep it really does just fly right by!
So this week I worked on a play with my friend Becky and it was quite a hit! It was a series of four One Act Horror plays, it was just a preview which meant it only ran for three days, but we had such a great response to it that they are trying to set it up to show again in October. They are also looking for more plays to show, so if you know of any Creepy, spooky, strange, horror one act plays let me know or look into at: www.thevisceralcompany.com Here is the link to a pretty great review that the play got.
http://www.zimbio.com/The+Los+Angeles+Theater+Scene/articles/oxeCvYFlrzs/FOUR+SHADOWS+takes+over+Mainstage+LA
I think possibly the best part of working on this play was that it gave me a little more of a nudge to try my hand at some acting. I am looking into getting into some improv work or sketch comedy, I am even considering possibly doing some stand up...maybe! ( Sorry Becky, if you read this, I have to take baby steps OK! hehe ) Anyway That is going to be my next new adventure that I plan to keep you all updated on as it unfolds. So that's what's going on on my end here in SoCal! It still sounds better to say The Chi ;-) Though I can get used to this weather out here! The winters are never colder then the mid to low 50's at night, and the Summer's have no humidity! It is so nice to not walk outside of my apartment and begin to melt instantly and have my hair get all crazy and frizzy! Oh and don't get me started on being so close to the Ocean! It never stops taking my breath away as I approach the beach to lay out in the sun and I pass through the palm trees and see the waves crashing, it is just too gorgeous.
I think that I am going to go see Day and Knight tomorrow in the morning so that I can get in for half price and since nobody out here wants to see it with me! I like big Summer Blockbusters, yeah that's right I do! They are fun and exciting and entertaining, just what they are supposed to be! I mean don't get me wrong I know that it isn't going to be artistically a well done movie, but it will entertain me which is exactly what I want out of it. I know that some of my film making friends don't like to see this type of movie because they are sell out films, but I don't discriminate, I like to see all ranges of movies from good, bad, artsy, foreign, independent, to goofy-off the wall ridiculous! I think you need to see all types of movies so that you can appreciate a great film when you see it. That is a whole other Blog though, that I will have to work on, because I have a lot to say about movies, which I am sure most of you all know that about me! :-) OK so stay tuned and check back in tomorrow night to catch another well rounded Blog about what is happening around here!

Hello, hello there everyone. It has been a few days and actually a lot has happened! The best thing I have to say though happened yesterday as I was exiting the Trader Joe's on Olympic. There I was all done and walking out with my bags of groceries, my sunglasses were on my head so my hair was totally pulled back and as I was walking out I noticed a guy walking in wearing funky sweatpants and an bright orange t-shirt. I look up to his face and realize that this oddly dressed man is none other then John Malkovich! Yep that's right "Lenny" was entering the store that I was just in. I looked at him with giant eyes and shock smiling and searching my brain for the words "hello, or hi, or hey it's you..." But as usual nothing, not a single word just a crazy friggin face and he looks straight at me and says "Yeah I know." And smiles. Then I look back at him and giggle and still just stare! Then he says to me!!!!! " You know young lady you have beautiful eyes." All I could do was thank him and continue to smile and giggle. So he smiles and continues to enter the store and I continue my way out. I called my brother soon after to tell him who I just saw and he asked me if I said my favorite line of his to him from Burn After Reading; "What the F**k!" HA! Now that would have been hilarious, I would never have said it but I wonder on the off chance that I had, what he'd have done! I'm sure he would be shocked but I wonder if he would have laughed and enjoyed it, or if he would just be shocked and upset and thought I was crazy!
Wow, I still really can't believe it happened. I mean it was John Malkovich and he really looked just as crazy as he seems, but sooooo cool! And he was complimenting ME!? Wild! I am starting to think that these star sightings of mine are a little insane, I mean I am meeting some pretty great stars and actually having somewhat of conversations with them! I even met and talked to Christian Slater while at the movies with my friend Tim! We were watching Michael Jackson's "This is It" and he was there with his SUPER hot girlfriend and after the movie ended he was singing along to the music in the credits! Tim was the one to spot him and pointed him out to me and I said I was going to stop and say hi, because as you know from one of my previous entries I think it is totally fine to approach stars because we make them stars! So anyway back to Christian, as Tim and I were walking out I stopped and went up to him and excused myself and said that had a great cameo on Curb Your Enthusiasm and that I must have watched Heathers like a hundred times! He thanked me very sweetly and smiled and shook my hand.
I have to say that I have these little fantasies that I will get to a point in my career where people will notice me one day and approach me. I will hopefully think back tho these moments of mine and actually have conversations with my fans so that maybe I can give them as fun an experience as these stars have given me! Ok....that was my cheesy moment, don't hold it against me ok!
Totally unrelated to the above, there was a 5.4 earthquake today that shook the building I work in for close to a minute! ( well maybe not a minute but it definitely shook the longest I have felt out of the 3 total I have felt now ) It was wild, I was talking to a girl next to me and had my back to the girl on the other side and I thought she was shaking my chair to get my attention but then people all over the office were saying they were feeling something! People were coming out of their offices and coming by and there was a little commotion in the office because of it. Well I made the mistake of watching the news when I got home for way too long and heard scientists saying stuff like this is leading up to a big one, and ones saying that there are many more to come soon! I am hoping that they are all wrong, and my roommate is right when she heard that having these small ones is relieving the pressure so that there isn't one HUGE one!
Ok so this blog entry was a little bit all over the place, but I just thought I would let you all know what has been happening on the West Coast the past couple days for yours truly! Ok, so sleep well and I will blog more soon :-)

Well folks you know what Wednesday was don't you? Oh yes, that's right Eclipse!!! Yep, there I was at 11:30 pm waiting for the theater doors to open so that nobody had the chance to sit in my seat! Oh and the seat was fantastic! it was only one over from perfectly center! So how was the movie you ask? I absolutely loved it, it was everything I wanted it to be. Now as I'm sure you have figured out I am totally bias since I adored the books, but it really was great. They stuck to the book really well, and there were even funny lines that I actually laughed at because they were funny and not just corny. The fight scene was done really well, which I was a little worried about, and the end was done well also. I am extremely excited for the final two films, and will be seeing this one again for sure. Now get to your nearest theater and check it out already!
What I would like to talk about now is what happened while I was waiting for Eclipse to start. First I sat down and was the only one in my Row for the first ten minutes of waiting, thinking to myself about what I was about to watch and I immediately needed to remind myself of a few important points: In the Twilight Saga these vampires don't have fangs, they do come out in the day time, and they are sweet and innocent high schoolers. It's True Blood where they have fangs, can't come out in the day light, and are extremely provocative and just nasty hot! Yes that's right I needed to remind myself since there are just so many vampire's roaming the Television and films these days. Yes, I am also obsessed with True Blood, but those books I haven't started reading yet but will be reading them soon. I like to say that Twilight are my wholesome sweet stories and True Blood are my raunchy exciting stories!
Now let's get to who sat next to me, first there were the three girls that sat to the right of me whining to each other about being tired. One was saying I'm tired I can't stay awake and the other two were whining loudly telling her to shut up and just stay awake-uh! The one who sat right next to me immediately got on her phone and started talking loudly and cracking up telling the person she was talking to to shut up, noway, shut up, no way! Really? Soon I had a group that sat to the left of me that were first of all a really odd looking group, one dressed to the nine's, one dressed in pajama's, another one dressed in Chicago style winter clothes, and one dressed like she would never spend less then $500 on a blouse. Also their ages ranged from early 20's- 60's and they didn't look related, it was just an odd looking group. I was really blessed because the one who wore the ubber expensive clothes sat next to me with her pompous crossed legs and attitude. So there she was sitting there talking so loud you could hear here in the back of the theater and all I could do was pray she would shut up by the time the movie started.
The only good thing that came out of her sitting next to me is this next part which is something that just cracked me up in fact, I'm still laughing thinking about it. There she was sitting and blathering on about the most inane subjects ever when she started talking to her friend next to her (a 43 year old Asian male) about shoes. Now it was what she said that was the best part and here it is:
Girl: You know what I hate, I hate when you buy sneakers and wear them and the tongue thingy rubs on your foot.
Guy: What, what about shoes?
Girl: You know when the tongue thingy like rubs and scrapes your foot.
Guy: Hold on, I don't get it, what? Were we talking about shoes?
Girl: Yeah I'm not buying just any sneakers anymore, you know I saw these really great Louis sneakers. I think I'm gonna just get those they probably won't rub or scrape.
Guy: Ok, I'm lost, I don't understand you're not wearing sneakers, were we talking about sneakers? Why were we talking about sneakers?
Bahaha, there I was just totally eaves dropping and just started cracking up. Thank god there was a funny preview on and it was appropriate to be laughing, but man was I laughing! This chick was so loud and she had that typical snooty girl voice, and her friend was so confused and so lost. To be honest I'm pretty sure she was bugging the s**t out of him too. She was just lucky that she did shut up when the movie started because I would not have hesitated to ask her to shut her trap!
Joining me in the theater were of course the serious Twihards! There were a few people there that had bite marks on their neck ( PS the vampires in Twilight don't have fangs, at least I remember that! ) and even one guy with his face covered in sparkles. The best were the loud sobbing sounds during Edward and Bella scenes of girls who were sad that they weren't being loved on by Edward Cullen. Actually, it was a little scary to hear some of the sobbing, I mean I am obviously in love with these films and the books but I would never be that obsessed. Though I guess I do have to admit that if I were my age now or at least in high school when Dirty Dancing first came out I would most likely be the sobbing wacky girl completely freaking out while watching MY!!!!! Patrick Swayze on the screen. Ahhhh swooon, how I loved my Johnny Castle ok girls I apologize for giggling to myself as you cried wishing to be Bella in Edward's arms because I longed to be Baby in Johnny's arms. Therefore I take it all back, go ahead and let it all out.

Hello everyone. So taking a few suggestions I have changed the design of my blog. I hope this one is easier to read, I think it is a pretty cute background. So here I am sitting at my desk in my room typing away as I hear my neighbors from across the way singing "Jingle Bells" quite loudly with their whiny crying little boy. Now you all know that I love kids, but this kid cries all the time and he is quite spoiled it sounds like. Since I have never met the little boy I can't say whether or not he is spoiled. What I can say though is that he yells and screams for things and his parents always give him what he screams for.
Moving on I would like to tell you about something pretty cool that happened at work today.......Jacob from LOST was there waiting to read for a new show. It was funny because he looked just like a normal guy (a really attractive normal guy) applying for a job essentially. Ha, that even looks funny typed out! We just moved to a new building for work and it is a building that also houses some shows of J.J. Abram's post production, which I have to admit is pretty cool! ALSO, ALSO Larry David works out of the building for Curb Your Enthusiasm!!!! Needless to say I am a bit excited to possibly run into some people.....What's funny is that I live in LA and I am terrible with actor's names, so I see a lot of actors and most of the time I'll say something like; "Hey that's that girl from that movie or that show with that other guy, you know the one on FOX, I think." Ha!
There is one person that I met that I actually talked to and didn't know his real name until I got to work. Some of you may know this story, but not all of you do so here it is. I was only out here for about a month, and I still didn't have my car so I was taking the bus (the buses are a whole other story!!!) so I was waiting for the bus and I had realized that I had about a half hour more to wait so I went to the Coffee Bean for a coffee. Once I walked in I was met with a huge line, and at first I thought I would just leave but I said eh what the hell I have a half hour!
There I was waiting in this line when I realized the man in front of me was tall, with dirty blond hair, and was very well built, in other words I thought he was a good looking guy. Once I thought that I giggled a little to myself realizing that I had decided this man in front of me was attractive and I didn't even see the front of him! So I moved out of line a little and glanced around so that I could catch a glimpse of him, well I did and I immediately got back in my place and thought Holy crap that's an actor, that's that guy! Oh god what is his name?? What is it, what is it, what is it??? Ahhhh think, think. Now as I am thinking all of this we are moving closer to the counter.
Just as I was in the middle of a total mind search, he turned around and looked at something behind me up against the wall and I knew it, I knew for sure he was the guy I was thinking, then all of his character's in his movies came flooding into my brain! Thank You for Smoking, No Reservations, and THE BIG ONE!!!! THE DARK KNIGHT! It was friggin Harvey Dent...Two Face...standing right there in front of me, but what is his real name!!?? Ok at this point there was like two or three people in front of him and I decided that it was now or never. So, I went in and I did it. I leaned in and I said: Excuse me, but you played a great Two Face Mr. Dent. He turned around, looked at me for a second and this big smile came across his face and he said: Uh thanks I immediately started giggling and said: You're welcome.
Now this part is the best! He said: So are you here for school? (We were about a half a block away from UCLA) I said all with a HUGE smile: No, I work out here, giggle, giggle. He said: Oh ok, so where are you from, I hear an accent. Me with a bigger smile and while giggling: Uh I'm from Chicago. Him: Oh, that's a great city (with a cute smile at the end) Me: Giggle, Yeah, the best city! giggle, giggle. (At this point I am totally freaking out because I can't believe he is having a conversation with me!!!) So he smiles at me after my answer and he is now the next person to order. He asks me: So are you getting a coffee?
Here is where I wish I had said something funny to really make him laugh like "No, I'm gonna get a cheeseburger" But I didn't I said still huge smile and while giggling: Uh yeah uhuh. He said: Well let me get it for you because that was the best way anybody ever approached me. Me totally stunned: Oh uh you don't have to. Him: Yeah no problem, what would you like? Me: Uh cafe Mocha? So he gets OUR coffees and hands me mine and says: Here you go, hope you have a good day and that LA treats you well (wink) Me: Giggle, giggle, thank you, thank you very much.
At this point people in the Coffee Bean were noticing who he was and looking and smiling and whispering and I swear I heard this (though it could have been all in my head) but somebody said, "Who is she?!" Ha! Who am I? I loved it! I was standing there near the entrance just frozen from what had happened with this huge dorky smile across my face!
I am convinced that when he got to wherever he was going next he told his people that he spoke with and bought a coffee for the sweetest little "special needs" girl he had ever met. The most ridiculous part of this was that even after it all I didn't know his real name!!! I had to look him up on IMDB the minute I got to work to find out it was Aaron Eckhart! I of course told everyone at work the story and they were all basically saying that happens a lot out here. Crazy!
So what's the moral of the story? Say hi, tell them you dig their movies or their show, because guess what? They wouldn't be famous or huge if it weren't for us, their fans! Now this doesn't mean I think you should stalk them or interrupt them if they are on their phone or in the middle of eating, but if they are in a line to get a coffee by all means, lean in ;-)

Today I would like to chat about a funny little picture I saw in an office at work. The picture was a split of two switch boards, one of them had only one switch labeled on/off and the other board was covered with button, switches, knobs, and lights. What caught my eye was that the picture with only one switch was labeled Men and the picture that was covered with buttons, switches, knobs, and lights was labeled Women. Now, my very first reaction was hey! That's a bit much. Then I thought, now come on it definitely takes more then one thing to turn a man on or off. My last thought was ok, there is no way a woman needs that much! I discussed it in the office with the guy who's office it was and two other guys that I work with. I was quickly met by all the guys saying "Yes, it is just that easy to turn us on, and it is just that difficult to turn you women on. I was even told, hey I'm turned on right now! Then another guy said a girl can be naked and holding a sandwich and I'm totally turned on. Ha....I quickly thought for a second of a naked man with a sandwich and was pretty much turned completely off in fact! Ha!
So, the reason why I am bringing this up is that I was adamant about the picture depicting men and women a bit harshly, but as the day went on I thought well, maybe it really isn't that wrong. Since the answers the guys gave me were pretty straight forward and when I thought of what would turn me on or women in general I started to realize it did take a bit more then being naked and holding a sandwich.
Well, it wasn't until I got back to my apartment and turned on the TV while I was cooking for some background noise that I really took notice to how much this message is out there in the world. This message that women need, or want soooo much, it's something that really bothers me because sure as my brother once told me "guy's are simple and easy Mish, you girls are the difficult ones. We don't over think and analyze situations, you do" ( Now please before you go thinking that my brother is a jerk for saying it like that, he isn't, he is actually soo fricken right! and also to defend him I asked his opinion, he didn't just throw that out there at me. )
So anyway back to the apartment, I had my TV on in the background while I was cooking and as I walked into the living room there was this Axe Body Spray commercial on that always made me giggle. Well tonight as I watched it I was not giggling, no in fact I was a bit stung by the message it sent out and it made me realize why there are pictures like the one in the office floating around and other little jabs about men and women. Ok I am sure you want to know what this commercial is, so here it is for you to check it out yourself, I'm pretty sure a few of you have seen it already, but enjoy.
Now, I don't want you to think that I am some raging feminist and am totally against this commercial, because that is not what I am trying to get across. I am just trying to say that maybe guys need to be more like my brother and tell girls hey, listen here is what I want. Now tell me what you want. Neither man nor woman are mind readers, so until we start speaking up and saying what is on our minds then we will really be that switch board with a million switches, and it will only be our fault.
Ok so I realize that this entry may ruffle some feathers or it may make some people laugh, to be honest with you I am looking to do both. I would like to see if people agree with me or disagree with me on these new thoughts of mine, because that is what this truly all is; new thoughts and ideas that have sparked some interest to me. I still don't totally believe that women have all the switches and guys have only one, I think that the men have a few at least, and my last point that I would like to make is that we are all different! There is not a single person on this planet that shares the EXACT same wants and needs in anything.
